7月9日—17日，美国地质调查局（USGS）Mehmet Celebi教授、Art McGarr博士与曾跃华博士一行三人到工力所进行合作研究。7月10日下午，外宾参观了振动台实验室和仪器室。7月10日在孙柏涛副所长主持下，Mehmet Celebi教授做了题为的“Introduction of L’Aquila Earthquake, Italy”的学术报告。7月14日， Art McGarr博士与曾跃华博士分别做了题为 “Using laboratory experiments to investigate the earthquake source and its demaging ground motion”与 “Physical process of seismic scattering and its application to ground motion simulation”及“Ground motion simulation using a composite source model”的报告，工力所温瑞智研究员做了题为“Brief Introduction to Yaoan M6.0 Earthquake”的报告。访问期间，双方就汶川地震的强震动观测资料处理、地震动场模拟以及地震动特性分析等合作项目进行了深入探讨，并就下一步合作项目进行磋商。
